Natalie has over 14 years of
experience in permissions. Her career began with an internship
at The Wilson Quarterly where she obtained permission for artwork.
She continued to expand her expertise at the University of Missouri,
Columbia, becoming Coordinator of the Custom Publishing Department
at the University Bookstore. Natalie has attended and presented
at numerous conferences about the importance of copyright and
obtaining permission, including ConTEXT, the annual text-book
conference hosted by the National Association of College Stores.
Natalie and Melissa combined their skills and energy in 2001
to form FreelancePermissions.com.
Melissa has been handling permissions
since 1997. She first developed her permission procuring and
research skills as a Custom Publishing supervisor under Natalie’s
tutelage at the University Bookstore of the University of Missouri,
Columbia. Upon graduation, Melissa launched a full-time career
as a freelancer, building a client base of well-respected publishers,
and in 2001 she reunited with Natalie to form FreelancePermissions.com.
Melissa has successfully handled a wide range of projects from
Spanish language textbooks to electronic library databases,
with particular expertise in children’s book images.
