Natalie has over 14 years of experience in permissions. Her career began with an internship at The Wilson Quarterly where she obtained permission for artwork. She continued to expand her expertise at the University of Missouri, Columbia, becoming Coordinator of the Custom Publishing Department at the University Bookstore. Natalie has attended and presented at numerous conferences about the importance of copyright and obtaining permission, including ConTEXT, the annual text-book conference hosted by the National Association of College Stores. Natalie and Melissa combined their skills and energy in 2001 to form FreelancePermissions.com.

Melissa D. Flamson

Resume

 

Melissa has been handling permissions since 1997. She first developed her permission procuring and research skills as a Custom Publishing supervisor under Natalie’s tutelage at the University Bookstore of the University of Missouri, Columbia. Upon graduation, Melissa launched a full-time career as a freelancer, building a client base of well-respected publishers, and in 2001 she reunited with Natalie to form FreelancePermissions.com. Melissa has successfully handled a wide range of projects from Spanish language textbooks to electronic library databases, with particular expertise in children’s book images.

Angela is our language specialist, helping us more effectively communicate and negotiate permissions with rights holders around the world. She is fluent in Hebrew, Russian, and English, and has mastered conversational Spanish, having spent a couple of years working in Mexico. She has a degree in Economics & Business Management, and brings that background and experience to her freelance work in administrative support and translation.
